Standing Hamstring Stretch

standing hamstring stretchAlways use safe stretching technique.

The Hamstrings is a group of 3 muscles that run from the pelvis to the knee in the back of the thigh. To stretch the Hamstrings muscles stand upright with the feet shoulder width apart.  Do not lock the knees.  Keep the knees very slightly bent.  Bend forward as fars possible.  Take slow deep breaths and hold for 15 to 30 seconds.  Bend down slightly further during the stretch.

Hamsting stretches are important as they stretch both the hamstings and the low back.  Tight hamstrings are common and associated with low back pain, sciatica and hamstring tears.
